I’ve had some really hard days in Liberia, and I’m just so grateful for the love I get from everyone. It really keeps me going. All my life my mom and I fought over my clothes. My choices were too tight, too short, or too low. And while they’re still tight, short, and low, I’ve made adjustments in a few ways. Yes, I kinda wear leggings as pants a lot, but I’m working on no cleavage in my videos. Meet me halfway with a few of my new principles.

If you don’t have on a good bra, you’re just going to look bad no matter what.  I squeezed into Victoria’s Secret for a long time before realizing I was in the wrong size bra. If you’re busty like me, try Soma Intimates or Intimacy. I always keep it real with them when I walk in. “I want a bra that will make me sit up as if I had a boob job.” I’m too young for saggy boobs and a great fitting bra makes me look thinner, feel more confident, and stand up straighter.

I am the queen of making new year’s resolutions, but not necessarily keeping them. I am always promising myself I will do more and do better, but by February I’ve strayed from the plan, making myself feel like I’m playing catch-up to my dreams every day after that. This year, we’re going to do things differently. I’ve created a guide to keeping with the resolutions that can make the biggest new year’s slacker a bona fide winner. What better time to start than 2012?

Did you even write your resolutions down?  I can’t even tell you the last time I wrote them out, because really, how hard is it to remember that I need to run every day and leave a little earlier to be on time for work? Writing can really help you to affirm your goals.  When you write your list, it becomes real, rather than a piece of your imagination you can discard when you choose.

Write realistic, bite size goals that you can actually accomplish. By aiming too high, you may find yourself too frustrated with the tasks at hand and bow out before you’ve given yourself the opportunity to be successful. Rather than saying you want to “lose weight,” declare that you want to “lose 15 pounds.” When you can measure your progress, you will be more likely to meet your goals over time. Reflect on what you completed successfully last year, and create a plan that you know you can really accomplish. You know yourself best, so don’t set yourself up for failure! I decided that at the end of everyday I would write the biggest thing I accomplished on that page in my agenda. This way I know I’m taking the necessary baby steps to kick butt.

Don’t weigh yourself down with a ton of goals. You aren’t going to change all your behaviors overnight, or even over the course of a year, but 1-3 new ideas you can successfully implement will make you feel like a new person.

The coolest idea I’m taking advantage of this year is to make a vision board with my short and long term goals to help me keep everything in perspective. The standard vision board involves magazine cutouts of all the things you want taped to a poster board that’s hung somewhere you will always see it, like your bedroom wall. Since I live the life of a traveller, I made my vision board on photoshop, and it serves as my desktop wallpaper and screensaver. Since I’m blogging these days, this is a certain way for me to see it all the time!

Some people say if you make your goals public, you will feel more compelled to meet them. Besides being too private to share these goals with the world, I’m making my goals for myself, not to have others monitor my progress. I understand why one would want a team of people to support them in their journey, but to each their own.

Finally, just get it done! Procrastination kills the resolutions! Act as if there is no “later,” and start taking your baby steps right away. If you schedule time in each day to push toward your goals, hello! You will SO make 2012 your best year ever.

I’ve been using this, but… let’s say you resize your window to like 100px wide. Then content starts to get cut off on the left side and you can’t scroll to it. Is there a fix for this?
